The United States is a predominantly Christian county, which means that Christianity, and to a lesser extent Judaism, explicitly and implicitly influences its culture and the structure of life. For instance, our holidays are Christian holidays rather than, say, Buddhist ones. For the purposes of this paper, pretend you are a religious minority in the United States (if you already are one, you can use your own experience). Choose one specific religion from your book (it can be one we haven’t discussed, because of time-constraints), other than Judaism, Christianity, or Islam, and write about your experience being a religious minority. In other words, what would it be like on a day to day basis to practice a religion other than Christianity, Judaism, or Islam in the United States. Some questions to get you thinking about this. What aspects of my religion would I need to adapt, if any? What conflicts may arise between my religion and societal norms? What cultural assumptions make it difficult to practice my religion?”
